21 Theydon Close, Crawley

I lived in Theydon Close from 1964-68. Crawley was a New Town and the term has attracted negative connotations; but at that time it meant things being new and with a great depth of resource, especially in education. Theydon Close was new and full of families that made for a good community; now the house is well over 50 years old and it's very mature.

The Old Man was the boss of Queensway Stores in the centre of town, which now looks much smaller and sadder. Of course, the whole Town Centre looks pretty grim in 2018.
